JAMMU, Mar 28: Resentment is brewing among medicos, who are leading a rigorous combat against COVID-19, as doctor wife of a senior officer posted in J&K, has proceeded on leave, despite Health Department cancelling all the leaves.
According to some senior doctors, the wife (doctor) of the senior officer posted in Jammu division proceeded on "childcare" (eyewash) soon after the J&K administration went into fire fighting mode to prevent spread of deadly Coronavirus.
"At present, there are 33 confirmed (positive) cases of the COVID-19 in J&K. Since, the day administration has intensified the efforts to prevent Coronavirus from spreading in J&K at-least three doctors have been suspended. Today one more doctor was terminated for not following the government order", a doctor said, adding "We are not supporting the erring doctors but administration needs to follow the same procedure while dealing with everyone. Influential should not be treated as special cases. At the end we are all doctors and it's our duty to save precious human lives."
"Authorities have terminated a doctor and suspended another on the charges of negligence while dealing with the COVID-19 suspects admitted at JLNM Hospital Rainawari in Srinagar. Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has issued a formal order in this regard", said, another doctor adding, "Why same action has not been taken against the doctor who has enjoyed choicest postings under patronage of her husband."
The doctor said, "Keeping in view the prevailing disaster the COVID-19 outbreak in J&K the Health and Medical Education Department has cancelled leaves of all doctors except maternity leave."
"Authorities should take a note and treat this exceptional case as a normal case and cancel her leave. If people at the helm fail to do so, this exceptional case will be challenged in the court of law," the doctor added.
