The Corona Virus that has shackled the entire universe is the only adventure in space and its origin is pdirected towards China. President Donald Trump has repeatedly referred it to the “Chinese virus” when talking about the pandemic whereas China charging President Donald Trump with racism for referring to the coronavirus “the Chinese virus.” China is ramping up aggressively to pin the blame for the coronavirus pandemic on the United States and accusing the United States of creating the new corona virus and spreading and linking it to the visit of 300 U.S. military athletes to Wuhan the capital of Hubei province for causing the corona virus outbreak. In-between blame game, what required is the focus on pulling together in the common fight against a global disease that makes no distinction between people and recognizes no borders. When authorities regulate public health, share information about a pathogen, and cooperate to control its movement, diseases are contained and pandemics are unlikely.
It’s hard to believe in coincidence, but it’s even harder to believe in anything else when we come across the 2011 American thriller film “Contagion” and the present ‘Corona Virus’ pandemic. The film stand inspired by pandemics such as the 2002–2004 SARS outbreaks and the 2009 flu pandemic. The plot of the film concerns the spread of a virus transmitted by fomites (objects or materials which are likely to carry infection, such as clothes, utensils, and furniture), attempts by medical researchers and public health officials to identify and contain the disease, the loss of social order in a pandemic, and the introduction of a vaccine to halt its spread. The film presents examples of crowd psychology and collective behavior which can lead to mass hysteria and the loss of social order. The thriller movie was also well received by scientists, who lauded its accuracy. The film now appeared to be staged in practical renamed as “2019-20 Corona Virus Pandemic” across the boundaries. The apparent difference is that the “Contagion” was directed by ‘Steven Soderbergh’ whereas the director of the present ongoing show is unknown. Similarity betwixt the film and present epidemic is film depicts a fictional worldwide pandemic, a Zoonotic Disease that spreads from animals to people. In the film, it spreads from a bat to a pig sold at an outdoor Chinese market. According to experts, the novel coronavirus is also Zoonotic Disease that likely started in bats and infected people via an intermediary animal sold at a wet market in the central Chinese city of Wuhan. Dissimilar feature is that no infected patients in “Contagion” recover from the disease. But number of people reported to have recovered from the coronavirus. The film has also blend of spreading misinformation claiming that the MEV-1 virus was manufactured by drug companies to turn a profit but as main thrust presently is to control the coronavirus hence world attentions are not working on this aspect that may appear later. The biggest inaccuracy in the movie “Contagion” is how quickly scientists are able to develop and produce a vaccine.
The story of the “Contagion” goes as: “In a flashback, a bulldozer knocks down a tree in a rainforest in China, disturbing some bats. One finds shelter in a pig farm and drops a piece of banana, which is eaten by a pig. The pig is slaughtered and prepared by a chef in a Macau casino, who shakes hands with Beth, transmitting the virus to her. Beth Emhoff, returning from a business trip in Hong Kong takes a stopover at Chicago to meet her lover. Two days later, in her family home in suburban Minneapolis, she collapses with seizures. She is rushed to hospital by her husband but she dies of an unknown cause. Returning to his house, her husband finds her step son also died of similar unknown disease. The husband is put in isolation but is found to be immune; He is released and returns home to his teenage daughter. The representatives of the department of homeland security meet with Dr. Ellis Cheever of the centers for disease control and prevention and express fears that the disease is a bio-weapon intended to cause terror. An epidemic intelligence service officer, to investigate the unknown disease becomes infected and dies. As the novel virus spreads, several cities are placed under quarantine, and looting and violence break out. Laterally it is determined that the virus is a mix of genetic material from pig and bat-borne viruses. Till the possible vaccine is identified and introduced, by this time, the death toll reached 2.5 million in the U.S. and 26 million worldwide.” The most important aspect in the movie is that to avoid the lengthy time in obtaining informed consent from infected patients for experimenting on the vaccine success, the inventing doctor inoculates herself with the experimental vaccine and visits her infected father. She does not contract infection and the vaccine is declared a success. Seen on ground the present crisis because of Corona Virus, the thriller movie is an accurate perception of a pandemic event.
In the back drop of the Corona Virus, a book titled “Unrestricted Warfare” in the age of globalization by Chinese military strategists is also in circles in the public domain. In 1999, two Chinese colonels wrote the book about warfare in the age of globalization. Their main argument: Warfare in the modern world will no longer be primarily a struggle defined by military means or even involve the military at all. The book carefully explores strategies that militarily and politically disadvantaged nations might take in order to successfully attack a geopolitical super-powers. The book concerns the many ways in which this might occur. They asserted that war had evolved to using all means, including armed force or non-armed force, military and non-military, and lethal and non-lethal means. The authors have shot a warning in the book that no longer needs to build an army, navy, or air force to wage a potentially catastrophic war. This growing and nearly boundless threat requires us to develop better policies, better deterrent capabilities, and far more developed defenses. We can’t wait for the first big attack of the next war to throw society into chaos. The Corona Virus may be one of the strategies explained in the book ‘Unrestricted Warfare’. The battlefield had fundamentally changed. It was no longer a place where militaries met and fought; instead, society itself was now the battlefield. As predicted in the book, future wars would inevitably encompass attacks on all elements of society without limits. This exactly is seen presently because of Corona Virus Pandemic. |
