Early Times Report

Rajouri, Apr 4: After continuous reports of embezzlement of rations by government ration dealers, the Block Development Chairman Seri of Nowshera Sub Division today raided a store of ration dealer of Panchayat Dharat and found that wheat bags in the store were less quantity than the prescribed weight.
Sources told Early Times that when BDC Seri Neena Sharma reached at ration dealer store, the ration supply was being unloaded in the store. On being asked by the BDC Seri to measure the weight of the wheat sacks, she found that all wheat grains bags were filled with less quantity than prescribed weight.
“When wheat grain bags were put on weighing machine, bags were found 8-10 kgs less, which clearly indicated that huge embezzlement was going on by the ration dealer. 50 kgs weight of wheat grain bag was found 30, 39,42 kgs,” they said. When BDC Seri asked the ration dealer about it, he tried to mislead her with his irrelevant excuses. Dealer said that he is not responsible for less weight of wheat grain bags as government has been sending ration in government vehicles but the excuse given by him was totally illogical.
When Early Times asked the TSO Nowshera about this matter, he tried to feign ignorance and said that he would first enquire about the reality of this matter and only then can take action.
Meanwhile, ADC Nowshera Sukhdev Singh Sambayal, when contacted he said that he would direct Tehsildar Nowshera Babu Ram to go the spot and find out the facts by weighting the wheat grain bags. DDC Rajouri Nazeer Ahmad Sheikh also took cognizance of the issue and said that he would seek report about it and would constitute a committee to probe the matter and anybody found guilty will be punished as the law.
