KISHTWAR, May 15: Threatening the local population of dire consequences, the brother of once dreaded militant has openly encroached 12 ft wide common path in Kidru village of Singhpora in Chatroo Sub Division of Kishtwar district.
As per the details available with Early Times, the land grabber who happenes to be the brother of ex-militant by using muscle power in connivance of others first encroached the common path commonly known as “Sharie Rasta (common road)” and later constructed a house over it.
The action led to the blockage of the common path used by the villagers to reach their homes as a result of which the people living in this hamlet are facing lot of problems in reaching their homes and to take the cattle for grazing.
Speaking to the Early Times, the local informed that the man along with his in laws was threatening and pressuring the villagers using the clout of his militant brother and other militants who happened to be his relatives.
He, who now is also joined by his children, muzzled the voice of the local inhabitants to show his supremacy over the people.
The locals said that under the garb of his relationship with the militants, this man flexing his muscle power continue to rule over the villagers till both of his relatives were eliminated by the security forces in encounter.
The people said that after the killing of his militant brother and relative, the people heaved a sigh of relief for some time but this influential person once again started dominating the people by threatening them along with his children and a group of people who had openly encroached the common path and forest land. The people said even after receiving the compensation of his house and land that has come in the alignment of Chatroo-Singhpora road which is part of prestigious road project leading to Singpura-Vailoo tunnel, again encroached the said land and constructed house on it along with few others as a result of which the road width at many places has reduced drastically.
The people said that this amn encroached forest land in compartment No 60 falling under Forest Division Marwah and constructed Kothas on forest land including two Kothas owned by him.
The villagers who feeling threatened said that they can harm them through anti-national elements and demanded immediate intervention of the administration.
When matter was brought into the notice of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chatroo, Indeerjet Singh Parihar, he assured to look into the matter.
“I will depute Tehsildar Chatroo for on spot verification followed by the action,” said SDM Chatroo.
Similar action was also assured by DFO Marwah Vijay Kumar who told the Early Times that a team of forest officials will visit the spot and the illegal construction on forest land, if any, will be demolished.
