Wife, paramour arrested in blind murder case of retd army jawan

JAMMU, May 19: Police solved a blind murder case, initially supposed to be a suicide, of a retired army jawan with the arrest of his wife and her paramour.
SSP Jammu, Sridhar Patil, while addressing media persons at SDPO office Akhnoor said , “On 3rd of May 2020 an information received by Akhnoor Police that dead body of one Ex-serviceman Chanchal Singh son of Kartar Singh resident of Tarodian, Nardi Bala is lying at his home under suspicious circumstances (apparently a suicide), subsequently an inquest proceeding was initiated at Police Station Akhnoor and enquiry started.”
Patil said that SDPO Akhnoor, Ajay Sharma, and SHO PS Akhnoor, Inspr. Pardeep Sharma along with enquiry officer visited scene of crime, smelling a foul play and suspecting it to be a blind murder, during course of enquiry Akhnoor police rounded a suspect namely Rakesh Kumar resident of Trodian, Nardi Bala, further wife of the deceased namely Joginder Kour was put to sustained questioning and during professional interrogation.
“It came out that Rakesh Kumar and Joginder Kour had develop illicit relationship with each other for the last 4/5 years and when Chanchal Singh came to know about this illicit relationship, he objected and had altercation with Rakesh Kumar in past. Rakesh Kumar had attacked the deceased in his house and FIR No. 84/2018 u/s 452/323/382 RPC was registered at PS Akhnoor which is still under trial”, he said.
SSP Jammu further said working professionally, Akhnoor Police established that it was actually a well-planned conspiracy hatched by Rakesh Kumar and Joginder Kour to eliminate the deceased Chanchal Singh.
“On the fateful night of 2nd May, 2020 Rakesh Kumar and Joginder Kour entered the house of deceased, overpowered him and forcefully gave poison with a motive to kill Chanchal Singh and carry on with their illicit relationship with Joginder Kour. On 18/05/2020, inquest proceeding was converted into case FIR no. 62/2020 u/s 302/34 IPC and accused persons arrested. The smart application of mind, technology and ground corroboration of trail of events led to solving of the blind cold blooded murder mystery by Akhnoor Police led by SDPO Akhnoor, Ajay Sharma, SHO PS Akhnoor and his team”, he added.
