COVID-19: Kishtwar reports 6th positive case
Delay in reports makes people anxious

Kishtwar, May 21: An elderly woman tested positive for COVID-19 in Kishtwar on Thursday thus taking the toll of infected persons to 6 in the district.
As per the details available with Early Times, the 68-year old woman hails from Dachhan area and is already in a quarantine facility. She is the third elderly woman from the area who has tested positive for this deadly virus. Prior to her two more people in the age group of 70 and 75 tested positive. Three other positive cases are all males in the age group of 20, 24 and 30.
Meanwhile, delay in arrival of test reports of the people who have arrived from different states has added to their anxiety. In some cases the samples have been collected almost 14 days ago but have not been tested till date. Susheel Kumar, who is in quarantine center at Adarsh Balniketan School Kishtwar, told the Early Times his samples, along with three others, were collected 14 days ago, but the report hasn’t come yet.
Similarly one Mohammad Saqib with travel history from Delhi said that his samples along with his family members were taken on 14-5-2020.
“The reports of my family members have come. These are negative but my report is still awaited,” he added.
Several people in quarantine facility center in adjoining Doda District told this newspaper that their samples were collected on 3-5-2020 and even after 17 days the test report is awaited. “We are going into depression due to the delay,” he added
BMO Kishtwar Dr. Gansham said that all the test reports upto 8-2020 have been cleared. “We have issued reminders to concerned authorities for early clearance of the pending test reports and assured them that the matter is being looked into on top priority,” he added. Meanwhile, the COVID patient from Kishtwar presently under treatment at Gandhi Nagar Hospital complained about lack of the facilities in the wward. “No one wants to listen to us,” they added.
