Early Times Report

Jammu, June 3: Social distancing being allegedly comprised at quarantine centers could lead to a catastrophe, sources told Early Times on Wednesday.
Senior officers, who are supervising return of stranded people to the Union Territory, have raised the issue of “mismanagement” in these quarantine centers on many occasions. They have warned that if steps are not taken immediately it will lead to a disaster. “It’s disturbing to see that people in quarantine centres are not following social distancing norms. With handful of facilities to tackle the emergencies in government hospitals, we can’t take any risk”, said a senior doctor of Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.
“Pictures uploaded on social media show that a group of quarantined people sitting together while having a meal and playing cards. Our responsibility does not end with the collection of blood samples, we have to be very alert until the test report comes. There should be proper mechanism to maintain social distancing in the quarantine centers till the established process is completed”, the doctor said.
“Though it is our responsibility to prevent spread of this deadly virus but at the same time it the responsibility of the government to frame guidelines of maintain social distancing at the quarantine centres, otherwise the centers will emerge as incubation centers for un-controllable spread of the deadly virus,” the doctor added.
