COVID-19 death toll in JK reaches 94 as three more die, 204 fresh cases reported

SRINAGAR, June 27: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 94 as three more persons died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. In the meantime, 204 fresh positive cases of the virus were reported from the union territory during the same period.
Reports said that a woman from Sopore in Baramulla district tested positive for the COVID-19 today even though she had passed away yesterday at the SMHS Hospital here. Two more persons belonging to Batengoo-Khanabal, Anantnag and Mishipora-Kulgam died due to the virus today. Although, all the deceased had co-morbidities, but still then the deaths were attributed to Corona Virus.
Meanwhile, Baramulla reported 52 fresh cases of Corona Virus cases followed by Srinagar 49 cases, Shopian 26 cases, Pulwama 20 cases, Budgam 13 cases, Kupwara nine cases, Kulgam eight cases, Anantnag six cases, Bandipora and Ganderbal four cases each, Jammu and Rajouri three cases each, Udhampur, Ramban and Kishtwar two cases each and Samba one case.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 204 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 13 from Jammu division and 191 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 6,966.
Moreover, 145 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 58 from Jammu Division and 87 from Kashmir Division. Out of 6,966 positive cases, 2,647 are active positive, 4,225 have recovered and 94 have died; 11 in Jammu division and 82 in Kashmir division. It said that out of 3, 45,426 test results available, 3, 38,460 samples have tested negative till date.
Additionally, till date 2, 72,041 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 39,403 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 31 in hospital quarantine, 2,648 in hospital isolation and 47,422 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 82,444 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 844 positive cases, 572 active positive, 250 recovered, 22 deaths; Baramulla has 800 positive cases, 410 active positive, 375 recovered, 15 deaths; Kulgam has 759 positive cases, 245 active positive, 501 recovered, 13 deaths; Shopian has 730 positive cases, 188 active positive, 532 recovered, 10 deaths; Anantnag has 633 positive cases, 170 active positive, 457 recovered, six deaths.
“Kupwara has 517 positive cases, 132 active positive, 380 recovered, five deaths; Pulwama has 429 positive cases, 243 active positive, 182 recovered, four deaths; Budgam has 371 positive cases, 178 active positive, 186 recovered, seven deaths; Bandipora has 288 positive cases, 37 active positive, 250 recovered, one death and Ganderbal has 86 positive cases, 24 active positive, 62 recoveries,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 325 positive cases, 59 active positive, 259 recovered, seven deaths; Udhampur has 259 positive cases, 98 active positive, 160 recovered, one death; Ramban has 215 positive cases, 61 active positive, 154 recovered; Kathua has 211 positive cases, 59 active positive, 152 recovered; Samba has 136 positive cases, 60 active positive, 76 recovered.
“Poonch has 120 positive cases, 23 active positive, 96 recovered, one death; Rajouri has 104 positive cases, 50 active positive, 53 recovered, one death; Doda has 72 positive cases, 17 active positive, 54 recovered, one death; Reasi has 40 positive cases, 14 active positive, 26 recovered and Kishtwar has 27 positive cases, seven active positive, 20 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 6,966 positive cases, 2,212 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
