EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, July 4: Constructed 10 years ago at a cost of Rs 2.72 crore Primary Health Centre, Roohi Morh has not been made functional yet.
Social activist Sanchit Raina told Early Times, despite completion of building works 10 years ago, pending payment of the contractor has not been paid by the department. “The Hospital could be a better option for the locals who have to go Gandhi Nagar Hospital or GMCH Jammu, but unfortunately, after lapse of a decade when the building was completed, remaining payment has not been paid to the contractor who built this building”, he said, adding that the Health and Medical Education (HME) department has erected huge billboard inside the premises showing its achievements, but unfortunately no one goes there as the hospital is not working.
“You will find huge quantity of weeds inside the premises of PHC Roohi Morh, and closed building”, he said, adding that he took up the matter with the PWD, a team of Engineers, including XEn Parvez Iqbal Malik, AEE, JE visited the spot recently. “Even, the Ex MLA of the area Kavinder Gupta had assured that soon the building will be made functional, but unfortunately, the Health department is not taking the matter seriously. For a long time I've been trying to contact Director Health Services Jammu and the Chief Medical Officer Jammu, but no one is answering my phone calls”, he said.
He added that the government should immediately pay pending payment to the contractor, who is facing huge losses due to non-payment of his works and the hospital be made functional. “Otherwise an agitation will be launched by the residents of the area for the purpose”, he added.
