NC leaders up in arms as colleague stays in ‘hibernation’
7/10/2020 12:19:42 AM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 9: Even as this particular National Conference leader was even not arrested in the wake of the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, he continues to stay away from the party politics drawing flak from the NC leadership.
Sources said the NC leaders are up in arms against their colleague, who is also seen as close aide of the party President Omar Abdullah.
Sources said for the last over ten months the said leader had been staying away from party meetings and that he didn’t visit the NC headquarter at Nawa-e-Subh.
It was reliably learnt that the leadership has raised questions over his prolonged absence from the political scene.
“When all the leaders of NC have been released from detention why is he into hibernation when the fact remains that he was even not arrested,” said a senior NC leader on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said the party leadership has sought action against the said leader who was also a Minister of State during the government led by Omar Abdullah.
Sources said the party leadership has said that the action should start by seeking an explanation in the form of show cause notice.
“He should be served show cause notice because you cannot run with the hare and hunt with the hounds all the times. Let him clear his position,” said the NC leaders.
Sources said the issue has already been raised with the NC patron Dr Farooq Abdullah as the NC President Omar Abdullah is “missing from the scene for the past around a month since the day he left for New Delhi.”
Sources said the party leaders are even asking if the said person has some different plans. “He was even not arrested that time so there is something fishy about his behavior,” said the NC leaders.
The leader in question couldn’t be contacted for comments.
When contacted the NC downplayed the issue saying that the said leader has been “under house arrest.”
