7/27/2020 11:37:38 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 27: A fresh warning for heavy rains and thunder showers, lightening and gusty winds has been issued for 24 hours from Wednesday in the Union Territory(UT) of Jammu and Kashmir while isolated rain is predicted in Ladakh region.
However, earlier similar predictions could not bring any cheer as less rainfall was recorded though gusty winds damaged orchards and houses in the Kashmir valley.
According to Met department records the summer capital, Srinagar, received 32 mm rainfall since June Ist to 0830 hrs on Monday.
Met spokesman said this evening that there could be isolated to heavy rains, thundershowers, lightening and 30 km to 40 km per hour gusty winds in the Kashmir valley and Jammu division from July 29 for two days. There is no such warning for Ladakh region, he said.
He said there could be light rain and thundershowers in Jammu division and isolated light rain and thundershowers in Kashmir during the next 24 hours. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain is predicted during the subsequent two days.
The mercury remained above normal in the Kashmir valley, where hot and humid weather continued affecting vegetable and fruit crops. Now many farmers are using water motors to irrigate their orchards and vegetable fields.
Mirpur in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) was hottest in the region after the maximum temperature on Monday was 37 degree while the minimum temperature was 26.9 degree, spokesman said. However, there is possibility of some relief during the 24 hours in Mirpur when there could be light rain and thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperature could be 32 degree and 25 degree respectively.
Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK, recorded 36.2 degree maximum on Monday and 24.5 degree respectively. The sky would be partly cloudy to light rain and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 35 degree and 24 hours respectively in Muzaffarabad during the next 24 hours, he said.
The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg recorded 24 degree maximum temperature which was three degree above normal while the minimum temperature was 13 degree, half a notch above normal. The famed health centre of Pahalgam was more hotter with 26.9 degree and the minimum temperature was 13.7 degree again above normal on Monday.
Srinagar, the summer capital, where life remained crippled due to lock down imposed by the administration to prevent spread of COVID-19, recorded four degree above normal maximum temperature on Monday. The maximum temperature in Srinagar was 33.5 degree while the minimum temperature was 19.2 degree, half a notch above normal. Mainly clear to partly clear sky is predicted and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 32 and 19 degree respectively during the next 24 hours in Srinagar, he added.
