Father of slain terrorist who went missing in Tral joins JeM terror group
7/28/2020 11:31:22 PM
Pulwama, July 28: Father of a slain terrorist, who recently went missing, is believed to have joined the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) terror outfit in Jammu and Kashmir. As per reports, 48-year-old Abdul Hameed Chopan had gone missing from the Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district earlier this month. Chopan, who left his home on July 19 for irrigating his paddy field, has been untraceable since then. His phone is also switched off. Abdul’s family had lodged a missing complaint with the police in Tral after he did not return home. The 48-year-old will be the oldest among the cadre of terrorists active in south Kashmir. Abdul’s son Adil Chopan was a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist and was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Gujjar Basti area of Tral on November 20, 2017. Earlier in May 2017, Adil had escaped from gunfight site in Saimoh village of Tral during an encounter in which Hizb commander and Burhan’s successor Sabzar Ahmad and his close aide Faizan Ahmed were killed. Adil had managed to flee the spot after some locals surrounded him and helped him escape. The video and photos of people escorting the terrorist to help him escape out of the encounter site safely had gone viral on social media. Abdul has joined terror group JeM, a senior police official from the area was quoted as saying by Kashmir Reader. The police are investigating the case further.
