RAJESH TANDON
EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, Aug 10: Sand mining, which remained a routine affair in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, has now announced its arrival near the religious places as the mafia is openly excavating sand along Shahshan Ghat, Muradpur.
But the district administration seems to be in deep slumber which shows that administration is supporting the sand mafia.
On one hand, open illegal mining is going on and on the other hand, the said material is being dumped on road which is causing damage to the road and traffic snarls.
Locals while expressing their concern on the working of administration demanded immediate ban on illegal extraction of sand and gravel near religious place Shamshan Ghat in Muradpur of Rajouri District. Locals said, “This mining has also damaged the Kools and bunds due to which the cultivated lands have been lost.”
They have appealed to Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to direct concerned authorities to stop this illegal mining of sand.
SSP Rajouri in his official comments assured to check this illegal mining at the earliest.
