Detained politicians were enjoying luxurious meals, cool breeze, posh locations
Pictures don’t lie!

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Aug 13: A year after being arrested, the leaked pictures of Kashmir’s mainstream politicians are telling an entirely different tale of their detention.
The pictures of detention various senior politicians have gone viral in which they could be seen watching spending time in a posh hotel situated on the banks of famous water body- Dal Lake. They could be seen enjoying the cool breeze of Dal lake, watching TV on LEDs in Air conditioned rooms and enjoying expensive meals with soft drinks served in plenty.
These pictures are telling an entirely different tale of these politicians who after being freed highlighted the hardships they faced during their incarceration. “This looks like some days of outing and it in no way is a jail. Where in jail can you find AC, luxurious meals and prized locations? One fails to understand why these political leaders are now presenting themselves as victims of August 5 episode?,” wrote a social media user while commenting on the viral pictures.
The pictures have Sajad Gani Lone, Naeem Akhtar, Yasir Reshi, Shah Faesal, Waheed Parra and several others enjoying a seemingly good time.
The news reports were earlier sharing interning anecdotes about various politicians who were in custody post August 5, last year. About Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone who last November staked claim for the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, a newspaper reported last year: “Lone had managed to sweet-talk an on-duty police officer and use his phone to call a person who was purportedly Amit Shah. A call that lasted a couple of minutes saw “Lone pleading like a baby” and reminding the listener of his and his family’s sacrifices for “the country and the BJP in the state. The receiver of the call apparently promised to talk to him again. But soon afterwards, the police chief was informed of the call and an investigation was ordered. The on-duty police officer was immediately suspended and the anecdotal information that has reached the outside world suggests that pressure was increased on Lone to completely cower him into submission.”
Pertinently, on August 5, this year, the union government scrapped Article 370 that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The government also bifurcated the state into two union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Apprehending that the leaders of various mainstream political groups could instigate protests and there could be a spike in incidents of violence, these leaders were kept in various make-shift jails. The detainees included three former chief ministers namely Dr Farooq Abdullah, his son Omar Abdullah and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti. Except Mehbooba Mufti, a majority of these leaders have been set free by the government.
