DDC Poonch discusses public issues with PRI members of block Mendhar

POONCH, Sept 8: In continuation to its endeavour to listen to public grievances at their doorsteps, a district administration Poonch team, led by District Development Commissioner, Rahul Yadav Tuesday interacted with PRI members of block Mendhar comprising BDC chairperson, Sarpanchs and panchs.
The PRI members raised several problems and demands of the public of their areas including augmentation of water and power supply, adequate staff in health and educational institutions and their upgradation etc.
The specific issues raised included release of pending MGNREGA wages, furniture for panchayat Ghar Mendhar, doubling- lanning of BG to Mendhar road, fixing the rates of construction material, construction of additional community bunkers etc.
The Deputy Commissioner, while speaking at the meeting, highlighted the role of the PRI members in strengthening the democratic set up at grassroots level. He said that Panchayati Raj institution members are main instruments of local government which plays a vital role in enhancement of primary education, health, agricultural developments, women and child development and women participation in local government etc. The Deputy Commissioner said that all the issues and demands projected by them have been documented by the concerned officers and the same would for met in a time bound manner.
He informed that as many as 31 new PHE schemes have been sanctioned for block Mehndar to meet out the shortage of water.
He also briefed the PRI members about the upcoming Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan and commencing of third phase of the B2V shortly after it in all the districts of the UT. He asked them to aware the people of their areas to motivate them for active participation so that the objectives of these programmes are fulfilled.
The Deputy Commissioner also informed the PRI members about different welfare and beneficiary oriented schemes of various departments and the procedures of availing the benefits of the same. He asked them to encourage the villagers to avail the benefits and take active part in developmental process of their areas.
The meeting was attended by SDM Mendhar Dr. Sahil Jandyal; ACD, Rajesh Lakhan; DPO, Mukhlis Ali; CEO Tourism Development Authority, Tanveer Ahmed; DSWO, Shakeel Malik, Executive Engineers of different departments, BDO Mendhar besides district and sectoral officers.
