SRINAGAR, Sept 8: Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness a spike in Corona Virus cases as record 1,355 cases were reported today while as 14 deaths took place. The total number of positive cases in the union territory is 45,925 while as number of total casualties is 815.
Jammu district reported 483 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 210 cases, Budgam district 94 cases, Udhampur district 59 cases, Rajouri district 55 cases, Kupwara district 53 cases, Ganderbal district 45 cases, Anantnag district 44 cases, Poonch district 43 cases, Baramulla, Doda and Kishtwar districts 35 cases each, Bandipora district 32 cases, Pulwama and Kathua districts 31 cases each, Samba district 20 cases, Reasi district 17 cases, Shopian district 16 cases, Kulgam district 10 cases and Ramban district seven cases.
Rajouri district reported three fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by two deaths each in Srinagar and Doda districts. A death each was reported from Jammu, Baramulla, Pulwama, Kupwara, Kulgam, Samba and Poonch districts. So far 702 Corona Virus deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while as 113 such deaths have taken place in Jammu division.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,355 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 785 from Jammu division and 570 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 45,925. Also 14 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; eight from Jammu division and six from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 491 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 74 from Jammu Division and 417 from Kashmir Division. Out of 45,925 positive cases, 11,859 are active positive, 33,251 have recovered and 815 have died; 113 in Jammu division and 702 in Kashmir division. Out of 11, 07,406 test results available, 10, 61,481 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 4, 91,348 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 38,659 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 11,859 in isolation and 56,575 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 83,440 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 10,508 positive cases, 1,435 active positive, 8,831 recovered, 242 deaths; Baramulla has 3,114 positive cases, 623 active positive, 2,384 recovered, 107 deaths; Budgam has 3,017 positive cases, 809 active positive, 2,142 recovered, 66 deaths; Pulwama has 2,927 positive cases, 484 active positive cases, 2,383 recovered, 60 deaths; Anantnag has 2,644 positive cases, 578 active positive, 2,014 recovered, 52 deaths.
“Kupwara has 2,474 positive cases, 751 active positive, 1,668 recovered, 55 deaths; Bandipora has 2,427 positive cases, 705 active positive, 1,696 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 2,010 positive cases, 120 active positive, 1,850 recovered, 40 deaths; Ganderbal has 1,829 positive cases, 448 active positive, 1,356 recovered, deaths and Shopian has 1,772 positive cases, 130 active positive, 1,613 recovered, 29 deaths,” reads the bulletin
The bulletin said that Jammu has 6,278 positive cases, 3,844 active positive, 2,366 recovered, 68 deaths; Kathua has 1,122 positive cases, 308 active positive, 804 recovered, 10 deaths; Rajouri has 1,098 positive cases, 266 active positive, 822 recovered, 10 deaths; Udhampur has 1,089 positive cases, 337 active positive, 748 recovered, four deaths; Samba has 870 positive cases, 267 active positive, 598 recovered, five deaths.
“Ramban has 710 positive cases, 57 active positive, 652 recovered, one death; Poonch has 590 positive cases, 200 active positive, 384 recovered, six deaths; Doda has 577 positive cases, 184 active positive, 385 recovered, eight deaths; Reasi has 479 positive cases, 134 active positive, 345 recovered and Kishtwar has 390 positive cases, 179 active positive, 210 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 45,925 positive cases in J&K, 7,205 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
