Early times Report

Jammu, Sept 10: Alleging massive irregularities and large scale violations of codal formalities in the execution of development schemes in District Udhampur during the past 5-6 years, the NPP leaders urged upon the Lt. Governor to hold a SIT probe into the total funds allocation to the said District and the works actually executed on the ground during the said period. Despite massive funding for various schemes, the delivery on the ground was conspicuously missing necessitating a high level enquiry into the swindling of tax payers money by vested political interests in collusion with unscrupulous officers, stated the Panthers leaders. In separate memorandums submitted to Lt. Governor, the NPP leaders Harsh Dev Singh and Balwant Singh Mankotia raised several issues seeking his personal indulgence for appropriate action at the earliest.
Pointing towards the huge devastation caused by landslides in Ramnagar constituency recently, Harsh Dev Singh sought immediate relief, rehabilitation with adequate compensation to the affected families for collapse of residential houses and other losses. He said that not only were the people rendered houseless but huge losses were caused to agricultural lands, standing crops, livestock and other household properties. Identifying the various villages which faced massive devastation, Singh called for immediate provision of succor and solace in the villages of Rasli Gaderan, Garh-Samnabhanj, Lah, Urkhal, Pattian, Jansal, Sundla, Babey, Sarl, Balota and Khaned in particular. Pointing towards the pathetic plight of Gaddis and Sippis residing in the hilly and remote belt of the District, Harsh called for constitution of a Development Board for the said tribals on the pattern of Gujjar-Bakerwal Advisory Board. He called for early action with regard to the assurances given to Koli community for inclusion in ST category. He called for immediate release of honorarium of VDC members and phased regularization of SPOs of Police Department. Singh sought adequate funds for various development works of Tehsil Ramnagar, Majalta and Basantgarh, early payment of compensation for lands acquired by PMGSY and R&B (PWD) Department for public utility works and clearance of liabilities for works executed under MGNREGA which were pending and unpaid for the last 2-3 years.
