Minor dies in Jammu; family alleges not COVID-19 but head injuries took his life | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sept 12: Protest erupted at Government Medical College and Hospital here on Saturday after a four-year-old boy died during the treatment. As per the hospital management, the boy died from COVID-19 while the family members of the deceased alleged that the injuries on the head took his life. The deceased was identified as Aarav. Aarav, according to his family, fell from the rooftop of his house in Janipur area on Thursday and was admitted to the Government Hospital in Sarwal. "The hospital staff referred him to GMC Jammu for CT Scan and specialised treatment," said the boys mother. She claimed that her son died allegedly due to the negligence of the doctors as they did not paid attention to his serious injuries. However, the hospital authorities said that the boy had tested positive for COVID-19 and was being treated at GMC Jammu for the same. The family staged a protest and refused to accept the hospital's assertion. Meanwhile, from the last three days, the oxygen supply had also dropped in CCU and COVID isolation ward in the hospital due to a leakage in the supply pipe, which is currently being repaired. The shortage of oxygen supply had also created panic among patients undergoing treatment in the hospital. |
