Vijaypur, Sept 12: Apni Party, Provincial President, and Former Minister Manjit Singh today appealed to the Government to include Punjabi as one of the official languages of Jammu and Kashmir. “The delay in taking any decision on declaring Punjabi language as the official language of J&K has annoyed the Sikh community and the vast majority of people in the Union Territory who speak this language,” said Manjit Singh. The Former Minister said that the Punjabi speaking people and Sikh community should not be compelled to come on the roads. This language was spoken in J&K from the times of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh. Many foreign countries have also given recognition to the language in their respective countries like Canada. On this occasion, General Secretary, Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Samba, Sardar Jarnail Singh Khalsa, Sardar Kuldeep Singh, Sardar Gurcharan Singh Billa and others joined the Apni Party in presence of Manjit Singh. Speaking on the occasion, the Former Minister demanded that without further delaying the matter, the Government should include the language as one of the official languages in J&K.
