Infighting in J&K Congress pushing party towards crossroads
Former Minister seeks action against another for indiscipline

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 21: Instead of providing strong opposition to ruling dispensation, the main opposition party Congress has been finding it hard to douse flames of infighting among its ranks and files, which is proving detrimental for deteriorating health of country’s “grand old party.”
In a new turn of events, a senior former Minister of the Congress Party from Jammu region has written a letter to President of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), asking the latter to take action against another former minister from Jammu region, for alleged indiscipline and for maligning his public image.
According to the letter, which is in possession of Early Times, a senior Congress leader, who was also Minister in Congress-National Conference coalition government has written a detailed letter, seeking action against another leader for posting malicious-misleading-concocted statement in social media (Whatsapp) in which the another leader is administrator.
The message shared by the other leader, against the aggrieved leader, is regarding a wrong information about alleged resignation plans of the former Minister from basic membership of the Congress party and to join Apni Party anytime. Explaining about his long political career with the Congress party and as a legislator as well as Minister, the aggrieved former Minister has alleged, “............(former Minister) and his some henchmen on the basis of political vendetta have been hatching criminal conspiracies against me to tarnish the image publicly only to quench their thirst and have made baseless accusations and allegations through social media”, it reads and levelled allegations that the other former leader has lost political ground in his constituency, because of his dubious functioning.
The aggrieved leader has further alleged that since the other leader was nominated at senior position in JKPCC, more than hundred top Congress leaders have resigned from Congress and have joined other political parties because of his unwarranted and dictatorship attitude. “Further he himself encouraged senior Congress leaders to shift their loyalties to some other party as Congress is sinking ship day by day. Mr. ........and his few henchmen created groupism in the party to mislead the leadership”.
After jotting down some of his viewpoints, the senior Congress leader has appealed the state party leadership with such words, “The aspersions made publically against me in the social media by Mr.......himself are highly motivated objectionable and against the political ethics and to mislead leadership on one hand and on the other hand to defraud the party so that omissions and commissions committed by him be concealed.”
The aggrieved former Minister has appealed party leadership to hold an enquiry and to take appropriate action against the other leader and has also asked the other leader to tender an apology otherwise he would think to initiate legal course against him, when the courts start functioning.
The Congress party has been facing infighting at the country level as well as UT level that too at a time, when the opposition parties have had ample opportunities to corner the government at various fronts but instead of providing a strong opposition, the party has failed to even keep his flock together.
