Jammu division reports 689 fresh cases of COVID-19, Kashmir 452; seven more deaths

SRINAGAR, Sept 27: Jammu division continues to bear the brunt of Corona Virus cases with 689 new cases being reported today while as Kashmir valley reported 452 fresh cases. With today’s cases the number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir reached 72,190.
Jammu district reported 324 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 181 cases, Budgam district 61 cases, Kathua district 51 cases, Rajouri district 49 cases, Poonch district 46 cases, Kupwara district 45 cases, Kishtwar district 44 cases, Doda district 41 cases, Reasi district 39 cases, Samba district 38 cases, Udhampur district 36 cases, Pulwama district 35 cases, Baramulla district 34 cases, Bandipora district 33 cases, Anantnag district 30 cases, Ramban district 21 cases, Shopian district 13 cases, Ganderbal district 12 cases and Kulgam district eight cases.
The death toll due to Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir reached 1,132 as seven more deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. Jammu district reported three fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Srinagar district two deaths and a death each in Baramulla & Kupwara districts. So far 823 virus related deaths have occurred in Kashmir valley with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 309.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,141 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 689 from Jammu division and 452 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 72,190. Also seven COVID-19 deaths have been reported; three from Jammu division and four from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 1,365 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 797 from Jammu Division and 568 from Kashmir Division. Out of 72,190 positive cases, 18,199 are active positive, 52,859 have recovered and 1,132 have died; 309 in Jammu division and 823 in Kashmir division.
Out of 15, 63,309 test results available, 14, 91,119 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 5, 68,416 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 15,230 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 18,199 in isolation and 51,081 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 82,774 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 14,385 positive cases, 2,175 active positive, 11,923 recovered, 287 deaths; Budgam has 4,764 positive cases, 1,116 active positive, 3,567 recovered, 81 deaths; Baramulla has 4,249 positive cases, 1,241 active positive, 2,886 recovered, 122 deaths; Pulwama has 3,852 positive cases, 461 active positive, 3,324 recovered, 67 deaths; Kupwara has 3,495 positive cases, 796 active positive, 2,633 recovered, 66 deaths.
“Anantnag has 3,474 positive cases, 451 active positive, 2,961 recovered, 62 deaths; Bandipora has 3,352 positive cases, 671 active positive, 2,645 recovered, 36 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,831 positive cases, 495 active positive, 2,308 recovered, 28 deaths; Kulgam has 2,252 positive cases, 137 active positive, 2,072 recovered, 43 deaths; Shopian has 2,013 positive cases, 193 active positive, 1,789 recovered, 31 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 12,012 positive cases, 3,778 active positive, 8,067 recovered, 167 deaths; Rajouri has 2,513 positive cases, 1,256 active positive, 1,227 recovered, 30 deaths; Doda has 2,148 positive cases, 1,188 active positive, 934 recovered, 26 deaths; Udhampur has 2,125 positive cases, 454 active positive, 1,657 recovered, 14 deaths; Kathua has 1,985 positive cases, 577 active positive, 1,387 recovered, 21 deaths.
“Poonch has 1,716 positive cases, 1,012 active positive, 692 recovered, 12 deaths; Samba has 1,665 positive cases, 777 active positive, 869 recovered, 19 deaths; Ramban has 1,294 positive cases, 459 active positive, 827 recovered, eight deaths; Kishtwar has 1,149 positive cases, 583 active positive, 559 recovered, seven deaths and Reasi has 916 positive cases, 379 active positive, 532 recovered, five deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 72,190 positive cases in J&K, 8,598 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
