School Edu Dept fails to implement transparent transfer policy
Influential teachers overstaying in Poonch, Rajouri districts

EARLY TIMES REPORT

POONCH, Oct 10: The School Education Department has virtually failed to implement a fair and transparent transfer policy, which can be gauged from the fact that hundreds of teachers in Poonch as well as in Rajouri districts have been overstaying in violation of transfer policy.
Sources told Early Times that there are many teachers who have been sitting at one place for the last many years by using their contacts with the higher ups while the genuine teachers, who deserve posting at streamlined places are shown thumb due to deep rooted nexus in the department, where transfers are being managed in a discreet manner.
They alleged that the schools within the city are most preferred places where only influential teachers get posted while the many genuine teachers are never given a chance to serve in the schools in city or peripheral areas. “This is not the first time that issue of favouritism in transfers has come into public domain. The deliberate ignorance of the higher authorities is the real cause behind this menace. The anarchy in transfers can only be checked when there is administrative transparency,” they added.
Administration is well aware of the problems of the deserving teachers, who had to bear the brunt of this nexus which never allowed them to come to their home towns and thereby had to spend their tenures in far-flung areas.
When contacted CEO, Poonch said that he has joined recently and come to know about the issue through media only. “I will inquire about the whole matter,” he assured.
