10/11/2020 12:28:29 AM
Early Times Report
Reasi, Oct 10: Leaders of Shiv Sena Bala Sahib Thackeray protested strongly against the Jammu and Kashmir Education Department, demanded the improvement in infrastructure and other basic facilities in government schools of rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
As directed by party UT president Manish Sahni, dozens of party workers led by Bhuri Singh, District President Reasi protested against the pathetic condition of the government middle school Thakrakote.
Singh said that the Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir is flouting the instructions of Prime Minister for improving education. It is to be guessed by the pathetic condition of the government school of Thakrakote, construction of this has not been completed for the last 14 years.
The student is compelled to attend classes without ceilings. Singh said that this school looks like ruins.
Many students have skipped schooling due to lack of basic facilities. He said that in this area with a population of more than 5 thousand, only one middle school to complete the education of hundreds of children.
There is a need for at least two government schools in the area, but the apathy is that the administration has failed to build a single school. Singh said that the condition of schools in most of the villages of Jammu and Kashmir is very poor, we have to remember that majority of the people of the state (72.62%) still live in rural areas and the number of private schools in rural areas is also very limited.
The literacy rate of rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir is much lower than in urban areas, mainly due to lack of basic and other facilities in government schools there.
He said that many surveys and reports have shown that there is a need for vigorous reforms in elementary education in rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir, these schools lack the basic facilities including infrastructure, electricity, computers, playgrounds, toilets etc.
On this occasion panch Raj Singh , Shapatain Singh, Zorawar, Naseeb Singh and many others were present.
