JAMMU, Oct 11: To commemorate the World Mental Health Day, Directorate of School Education, Jammu, through its Counselling Cell organised a webinar on ‘Mental Well- Being : A way of Life’ for students, teachers, HOIs and Psychological Task Force members under the patronship of Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education Jammu.
Dr. Geetanjali Kumar, Lifeskills trainer/counsellor/ Parenting coach/ Therapist was the resource person for the webinar which was joined by thousands of participants live and subsequently followed by many more on various social media platforms of the Directorate.
The Director School Education Jammu congratulated the members of Psychological Task Force who address the psycho-social issues of our students/ teachers/ parents, etc and urged them to upscale the level and scope of their reach with vrit and determination.
Dr. Geetanjali Kumar enlightened the participants in the session by sharing her own life experiences. She said that we all go through tough times and people help us through them. We need to do the same for others. We need to give importance to the mental health of people around us, whether they are our friends, family member, or our colleagues and there are many ways to support someone you care about.
The simplest one is to listen to them without pre conceived notions and making any judgments. People start to heal the moment they feel heard. She discussed the various aspects of mental health issues and enriched the participants about the methods that can be used in the fight against such issues.
Towards the end of the webinar, a question answer session was held and Dr. Geetanjali addressed the queries raised by the participants.
Romesh Sharma, Head Counselling cell DSEJ while moderating the webinar laid emphasis on talking about our feelings.
