Give SKIMS proper shape to serve public, Soz
10/16/2020 12:21:04 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Srinagar, Oct 15: Former Union minister and senior Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz on Thursday said that while the doctors of the S K Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) are discharging their duties in right earnest, the hospital lacks the punch that would make it a satisfactory situation for patients.
In a statement here this afternoon Prof Soz said he has proposed to Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Atal Dulloo to hold a comprehensive meeting with the faculty and appreciate their difficulties.
However, he alleged that it is really unfortunate that small financial shortcomings render the general run of patients dissatisfied, bringing the efficacy of the entire system into question.
He said he has learnt that while a patient is admitted for immediate attention, the attendant has to purchase medicines from the market. This kind of situation brings bad name to the hospital, although the doctors are eager to treat patients properly, he said.
The least that is required to be done is that Mr Dulloo takes a meeting with the faculty there and sorts out small and big problems for resolution, Prof Soz said and expressed the hope that with a little more attention, things can improve for good. The sooner J&K government takes action, the better for SKIMS, he added.
