SRINAGAR, Oct 15: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today said that more than 90 percent amount allocated under the Prime Minister’s Development Programme (PMDP) in the union territory of J&K has been spent on the various developmental projects. He also said that more than four lakh domicile certificates have been issued among the people so far. “Under the Prime Minister’s Development Programme we have so far received Rs. 31,339 crores and out of this Rs. 29,565 crores have been spent so far. Work has so far been completed on 17 developmental projects and it is going on at full swing on the other developmental projects. We believe in development without discrimination,” said Sinha while addressing a press conference here today.
The Lieutenant Governor said that five lakh people took part in the Jan Sunwayi Abhiyan across the union territory adding that 285 locations were identified for the Block Divas programme. He said that a mega Block Divas programme would be held and for the same 30 places have been identified in Kashmir valley and 42 in Jammu region.
“Under the third phase of Back to Village programme 5,980 works were started and 13,675 works that were pending were completed. An amount of two and half crores has been sanctioned for 4,324 works. Under this programme it was ensured that sports kit is distributed in every Panchayat and only 27 Panchayats could not be covered under the solid waste management programme,” said Sinha.
The Lieutenant Governor said that 4, 25,258 domicile certificates have been issued to the residents of Jammu & Kashmir adding that 45,327 category certificates and 51,097 births/deaths/disability certificates have been distributed among people in the past couple of months. He said that 629 unutilized buildings have been identified by the administration and the same would be handed over to the relevant stakeholders very soon.
“In the back to village programme 12,908 youth have been identified for entrepreneurship and out of the letters have been sanctioned in favour of 7,670 youth with cheques issued in favour of 4,133 youth. We are planning to open 500 public utility services and we have accomplished many achievements in the sphere of better connectivity,” said Sinha.
The Lieutenant Governor said that tunnel projects like Qazigund-Banihal, Ramban-Banihal, Khellani-Kishtwar, Chenani-Anantnag and Simthan pass would be completed in the next few years. He said that bottlenecks relating to Srinagar Ring Road project have been removed since the Government of India has allocated additional amount of 600 crores as compensation for farmers.
Sinha said that work is apace on the construction of government medical colleges in the union territory and the work on the same would be completed in due course of time. He said that 4.28 lakh people have so far registered for the comprehensive health insurance scheme that has been named as ‘Sehat’. He said that power projects like Uri-II, Dulhasti-II and Rattle would be completed in the future and same would augment the power supply in Jammu & Kashmir.
