Jammu, Oct 16: An alleged tainted engineer of Rural Engineering Wing (REW) of Rural Development and Panchyati Raj Department is likely to face action on the basis of the enquiry initiated against him by the Raj Bhavan.
Highly placed sources informed Early Times that following Raj Bhavan’s intervention, the Secretary RD&PR Department, asked Joint Director Rural Development Jammu to submit an enquiry report into the allegations leveled against Executive Engineer, REW Udhampur, accordingly a report corroborating the allegations have been submitted to administrative department.
It is pertinent to mention here that taking cognizance of a story carried by Early Times the Raj Bhavan vide order no. LGS-50/(NI)2020/1149, dated January 28,2020 had sought a report from in the matter from Secretary to Government (RD&PR).
“The Raj Bhavan on 28th of January 2020 had sent a communication to Secretary RD&PR asking to submit a report into the matter. This has reference to the news item “Former Xen REW Samba siphoned of (off) MGNREGA funds” appearing in the ‘Early Times’ in its edition dated 20/01/2020. In this context, I am desired to request you to furnish a report in the matter, to this Secretariat, early”, Communication no. LGS-50(NI) 2020/1149 dated 28/01/2020 issued by, Jagdish Singh, Director Public Relations, in Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat read.
Meanwhile, sources said that the enquiry officer has probed most of the allegations against the engineer, in his finding,

three weeks ago the report was submitted to the administrative department for further action.
“The former XEn REW Samba being himself as an authority had transferred funds under MGNREGA from his official Bank account no 06400102000000149 of J&K Bank Nandini Hills Samba to his personal account no 007604010009707 J&K Bank Sidhra, Jammu”, sources said.
“On 25/01/2017, Rs1,12,279 under invoice/authority number XEN/REW/S/2015-16/426 transferred in his account. On 02/02/2017 Rs 92,200 under invoice/authority number XEN/REW/S/2016-17/435 transferred in his personal account. On 10/04/2017 Rs 1,31,900 under invoice/authority number XEN/REW/S/2016-17/17 transferred in his personal account. On 12/06/2017 under two different invoices XEN/REW/S/2017-18/38 and XEN/REW/S/2017-18/37 Rs 83,700 and Rs 1, 09,200 respectively shifted in his account. On 17/07/2017 Rs 40,400 under invoice/authority number XEN/REW/S/2017-18/71shifted in his account. On 22/09/2017 under invoice/authority number XEN/REW/S/2016-17/187 he shifted Rs 27,100 in his personal account”, these are transactions done the XEn in a personal account misusing his authority and causing huge loss to state exchequer.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Early Times till date has exposed so many and brought the fact before the public regarding the mess in the Rural Development Department. Yet there are large numbers of back door appointees, promotees on bases, the degrees/diplomas secured from unauthorised institutions that too through backdoor channels.
