Jammu based PDP leaders feel humiliated, insulted by leadership
10/25/2020 12:30:12 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 24: Jammu based leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) felt humiliated and insulted by the party leadership as they were not even informed about party’s decision to take extreme stand on various issues including ‘respecting’ national flag.
There is a feeling among senior PDP leaders that a Kashmir based coterie was taking all important policy decisions without taking Jammu based senior leaders into confidence. Jammu based senior leaders felt insulted because NC leadership has especially called senior leaders from Jammu for consultations on prevailing political scenario in J&K.
On the condition of anonymity, a senior PDP leader told Early Times that after demise of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, a coterie of Kashmir based communal leaders, have hijacked the party and Jammu senior based leaders were repeatedly humiliated and insulted by this coterie.
“When Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was heading the party, senior leaders from Jammu were taken into confidence on all important policy matters just to evolve a consensus”, he said but regretted that presently party leadership has virtually abandoned Jammu leaders.
He reminded that during 2008 Amarnath land row, the same PDP leaders and workers were targeted by angry people in Jammu but it was all due to support of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that none of them even thought of leaving the party. “Now we feel humiliated and insulated”, he said and added that like NC, party leadership should also called leaders from Jammu for discussions before taking extreme positions,
Most of the Jammu based senior leaders were enraged after getting information that NC has called its Jammu based leaders for discussions.
