11/17/2020 12:38:46 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 16: After his appointment as incharge J&K and Ladakh BJP, Tarun Chugh will reach Jammu on Tuesday to review party’s preparations for the District Development Councils (DDCs) elections. This will be Chung’s first visit after his appointment as incharge of J&K and Ladakh affairs of the party.
Chugh, who has replaced high-profile party leader Ram Madhav, as incharge of strategic J&K and Ladakh, will hold interaction with different leaders to get feedback about party’s preparations for the prestigious DDCs elections.
BJP’s general secretary Tarun Chugh was appointed in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on November 13 in place of Ram Madhav, who has been removed as national general secretary of the party.
As almost all parties of J&K have joined hands under the banner of People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) to fight DDCs elections, BJP high command has decided to fight these polls very seriously by utilizing all resources to test water after abrogation of Article 370.
Party’s seriousness in fighting these elections can be gauged from the fact that BJP national president J P Nadda has already appointed Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur as Incharge and Shahnawaz Hussain, and Sanjay Bhatia, MP as co-incharges for these polls.
The BJP has released a second list of 46 candidates for third, fourth and fifth phases. Party has already announced two former ministers and one ex-legislator as party candidate for these elections.
Sources in the party said that Smriti Irani, Dr Jitendra Singh, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Partap Sarangi, Gen (Retd) VK Singh and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Tarun Chug, will be star campaigners in J&K elections.
