From being staunch NC opponent, ‘ Mujahid’ now is party’s best friend
Turncoat dons the new coat!

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 3: There are no permanent friends and foes in politics. However, the limits of decency were seen getting transgressed on Sunday when the former deputy mayor, who used to call himself a mujahid, was seen making strenuous efforts to get cozy with the National Conference leaders.
As son of a NC leader, Salman Sagar was administered oath as a newly elected corporator from Ward 18(Solina) and Ward 69(Soura) of SMC in the presence of Divisional Commissioner Kmr P.K Pole, the "Mujahid" was seen trying to stay closer to the newly elected corporator who according to many may grab corporation’s top post.
It was a unique scene worth watching as once a staunch opponent of the National Conference and its policies was seen on Sunday extending the olive branches to the party’s winning corporators. “This is height of nonsensical things. This Mujahid was once an independent candidate and then was with the Congress. Later he switched sides and joined Peoples Conference. Now when his repeated attempts aren’t bearing any fruit, he is out in open declaring his support to the National Conference. I mean his own mind would have been wondering on which side it really is titled,” said a NC functionary.
In order to stay in the limelight this former Deputy Mayor is infamous for all the theatrics and bizarre plays. The video in the year 2018 had gone viral on social media was of some meeting held at a private hotel in Srinagar in which this SMC’s deputy mayor was talking to a delegation from some outside state.
Posing as an expert on Kashmir affairs, the then deputy mayor could be seen sitting at ease on a sofa and sermonising the delegates about what should be done to resolve the ‘entangled’ Kashmir issue. While talking about the student exchange program, he says in the video that if a student from Kashmir goes to any other state within the country, he should not be ridiculed for saying Hindustan Murdabad. “Have a big heart and don’t get annoyed. What would happen even if a Kashmir youth chants Hindustan Murdabad. If we bear the insult of showing our identity card to a soldier hailing from Tamil Nadu, what is wrong if our youth chants anti-India slogan,” says the deputy mayor in the video clip.
He even admitted that people in Kashmir don’t vote and that elections wouldn’t in any way resolve the Kashmir issue. He later became much active on the internet, declaring Mujahid as his first name. Later, he removed the title from his name.
Post abrogation of Article 370, he released a video in which he was suggesting constitution of rate fixation committee for the saloons in Srinagar.
When the administration was battling on multiple fronts the outbreak of COVID – 19, this Mujahid wanted it to fix the hair cutting and facial rates at parlours.
