1/7/2021 11:51:07 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 7: Even as political parties are hoping that statehood would be restored very soon, the Union Government on Thursday merged J&K cadre with AGMUT cadre.
After issuance of official gazette by the Ministry of Law and Justice there is no J&K cadre now and officers of the J&K cadre are now part of the AGMUT cadre.
AGMUT is Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (UT) cadre.
Now officers of J&K cadre can get an opportunity to serve in Goa, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep Islands, North East States Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, Puducherry, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli apart from Delhi.
After issuance of this order not only J&K cadre officer can get opportunity to serve outside, officers of AGMUT cadre would also depute in J&K.
Earlier the merger of J&K cadre into AGMUT for put 'on hold' in the month of July 2020, now official order of the merger has been issued by the Union Government.
J&K cadre for All India Services ceased to exist last year after BJP led NDA Government had bifurcated erstwhile State of J&K into two Union Territories (UT). It was supposed to be merged into AGMUT cadre.
According to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, which came into force in October 2019, the cadre was to be merged into the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre. The cadre-controlling authority of AGMUT is the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), while that for all other state cadres is the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
