No PAGD leader spare time to pay tributes to Mufti Sayeed

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 8: Even as PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has apparently ‘mortgaged’ her party none of the leaders of the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) spared time to pay tributes of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on his fifth death anniversary.
PAGD is an amalgam of six parties namely National Conference, PDP, Peoples’ Conference, CPI (M), Awami National Conference (ANC) and Jammu Kashmir Peoples’ Movement (JKPM).
Fifth death anniversary of two-time chief minister of J&K and former Union Home Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was observed on Thursday. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was founder of the PDP but none of the constituents of PAGD spared time to pay tributes to the former chief minister. PDP organized various functions at different places at party level but other constituents of PAGD preferred to stay away from any such event across UT.
Reliable sources said differences among various constituents of PAGD have already cropped up during the recently held DDCs elections in which they fought against each other on many seats.
Wishing anonymity, a senior PDP leader said that all constituents of PAGD should have to pay tributes to Mufti Sayeed on his death anniversary but due to political rivalry they intentionally decided not to recall the services of the late chief minister.
PAGD was formed on October 20, 2020 with Dr Farooq Abdullah of NC as chairperson, Mehbooba Mufti as vice-chairperson, Sajjad Lone as spokesperson, Mohammad Yosuf Tarigami as convenor and Hasnain Masoodi as coordinator.
Aim of the PAGD is to restore Article 370 and 35-A which were revoked by the Parliament on August 5 and 6 in the year 2019.
