| Emboldened AEE of I&FC pays no heed to orders of seniors, does not do his duty | | | Ajay Sharma

NOWSHERA, Jan 16: An Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Irrigation & Flood Control Department posted in this division of Rajouri district is so ‘emboldened’ that he does not obey the orders of his seniors and carries out work according to his own wishes and whims.
Sources told Early Times that the AEE posted in the sub-division Siote has not been transferred for the past four years or so and he is virtually doing nothing so as to provide some relief to the people. His inactiveness has led to the blockage of many irrigation canals in the area thus leading to problems for the people in general and farmers in particular.
“Over the past few years repeated requests have been made to the AEE to visit the irrigation canals and make them operational, but he did not do so. Although, his seniors directed him to visit the irrigation canals but he did not listen to them as well. For obvious reasons he has not been transferred from present place of posting,” said sources. They said the Sarpanch of the concerned village also complained to the higher ups of the department about the inactive approach of the AEE and urged for his transfer which did not happen. Divisional Engineer (DE) Nowshera said that he passed on the directions to the AEE to visit the irrigation canals but the engineer did not bother to do the same. Chief Engineer I&FC Jammu, Manchanda Dal said that work would be started on the irrigation canals very soon. He said stern action would be taken against the delinquent AEE. |
