Overhauling in BJP within seven-month ‘due to below’ expectation result in DDC elections
1/17/2021 11:44:07 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 17: Notwithstanding tall claims of the party to get overwhelming response from Kashmir Valley during the just concluded District Development Councils (DDCs) elections, decision of the party to change general secretary of in-charge of the Valley has authenticated the reports that high command is not satisfied with party’s performance in the elections.
BJP has won three DDC seats from Kashmir Valley after spending huge resources. The party has failed to perform on expected lines in twin border districts of Poonch-Rajouri and in the mountainous belt of erstwhile Doda district comprising Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar. Party’s performance in Kishtwar and Ramban has forced party leadership to redevise its strategy. Overhauling the party within eight months is a clear indication that leadership is not happy with the performance of the party in the DDC elections.
Earlier on May 27, 2020 BJP had announced its Prabharis for various zones, districts and party Morchas for two years but within seven months most of the Prabharis have been changed.
Former MLC Vibodh Gupta, who was in-charge of Kashmir Valley, has been made incharge of Jammu, Jammu West, R.S.Pura, Jammu Rural, Akhnoor, Nowshera, Rajouri and Poonch districts. In his place former minister, Sunil Sharma is appointed as incharge of Kashmir Valley and including Kashmir Displaced District and also incharge Doda-Ramban-Kishtwar districts.
Another general secretary Dr.Devinder Kumar Manyal, is appointed as incharge Kathua, Basohli, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi districts.
Sources in the BJP said that contrary to tall claims of the party, the performance of BJP was not on expected lines so the party has changed some Prabharis. Party lost some seats due to wrong distribution of tickets and infighting. In Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban and Kishtwar districts the party’s performance was poor. Party failed to make inroads in these four districts due to infighting among leaders.
