2/14/2021 9:25:43 PM

Early Times report

Jammu, Feb 14: In its persistent effort to come up with a theatre production every Sunday, Natrang presented a Hindi play “Antraal Ke Baad” written by Pratap Sehgal and directed by Neeraj Kant in its “Sunday Theatre” series at Natrang Studio Theatre. The play is on an emotional widow, who takes a career break to take care of her new born baby and when time comes, gets the empty nest syndrome in reciprocation.
The play opens, where Manju is waiting for her son ‘Gaurav’ in a thunderous rainy night and calls her husband’s friend ‘Suresh’ to fetch him. But, in the meanwhile Gaurav arrives and tell her mother about the scholarship he got from the California University for further higher studies and research work. But Manju is reluctant in sending her son abroad.
In the next scene, Manju’s friend ‘Deepa’ is seen convincing her to let Gaurav go abroad for further studies and also tells her that what our parents used to think, we don’t and the same goes for our children. But, the emotional mother says that after a span of time moral values change and also tell her that when Gaurav was only a year old, she too was offered scholarship by the University for Higher Studies, which she refused for the sake of her child. Then her husband told her that your child won’t take care of your sentiments, joys and worries for which you are sacrificing your career.
After two years, Manju’s husband ‘Madhur’ expired in a road accident and Madhur’s friend Suresh offered a marriage proposal before her, which she refused. And now the lonely mother does not want to let her son go abroad, but Gaurav without caring for her mother’s emotions, sorrows and sentiments takes a flight to California.
In the end scene, dejected mother remembers her husband’s words “Your child won’t take care of your joys, sorrows and emotions for whom you are sacrificing your career”,
Natrang artists who performed in the play were, Brijesh Avtar Sharma as ‘Suresh’ , Kanan Preet Kour as ‘ Manju’ , Aarti Devi as ‘Deepa’ , Sushant Singh Charak as ‘Gaurav’ and Khushal Bhat as ‘ Madhur’. Lights of the play were designed and operated by Neeraj Kant Sharma whereas the music of the play was scored by Lovely Sharma. The show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen.
