| DDC Udhampur reviews execution of District Rural Road plan under PMGSY-III | | |  Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Feb 15: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla today chaired a meeting of PMGSY department and reviewed the action plan for upgradation of rural roads under PMGSY phase - III in the District.
At the outset, Superintendent Engineer- PMGSY, A K Raju informed the meeting that the action plan has been duly vetted by Block Development Council Chairpersons and District Development Council (DDC) members. He further informed that all the important roads of rural areas are proposed under this plan for upgradation in consultation with elected representatives.
Dr Singla emphasized upon the need of macadamization of roads in rural areas and hailed the initiative of plan formulation by involving elected representatives as active participants, thus ensuring the role of grassroots level democracy in need based development process.
The DDC stressed upon the concerned officers to fulfill the primary objective of the PMGSY III by providing smooth connectivity, to the uncovered habitations. He asked the engineers of the department to take all the important roads of rural area in consideration as per guidelines and submit a comprehensive plan.
He laid down special focus on upgrading and improving the rural roads in remote areas such as Dudu-Basantgarh- Ramnagar circuit Laddan Chenani road and other far-flung roads of Moungri Khoon Majalta etc as it is a prerequisite for the socio-economic development of the areas and improving the human development index .
He further directed to expedite the pace of ongoing works on all PMGSY roads for their timely completion and called for weekly monitoring of the work progress, setting targets for completion of works and submission of the progress report on a regular basis.
Among others CPO, Rajeev Bhushan and Executive Engineers of PIU were present in the meeting. |
