DLSA Udhampur observes World Day of Social Justice

UDHAMPUR, Feb 20: In compliance to Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) J&K), District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Udhampur today celebrated "World Day of Social Justice "under the supervision of Principal District & Sessions Judge and Chairman DLSA, Mohan Lal Manhas across the District by organizing various events.
The main event was organized under the Chairmanship of M L Manhas, Chairman DLSA in the Court Complex Udhampur in collaboration with Social Welfare and Labour department.
The Awareness camp was attended by Shoba Ram Gandhi (Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur; B. A Munshi(CJM Udhampur); Preet Simran Kour (Sub judge/ Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur); Ajay Kumar( District Mobile Magistrate); Girja Shavan ( Addl. Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur); Kamiya Singh ( Munsiff, JMIC); Bar President JD Slathia, Er Sajad Bashir Sumbira, District Social Welfare Officer; Ruhi Khajuria, BDO Latti Marothi; team of Bar Association Udhampur, Sarpanchs & local persons of village Moungri, Latti, Kambal Danga.
Secretary DLSA, Sandeep Kour conducted the program proceedings and presented vote of thanks.
The gathering was apprised about the importance of the day with special emphasis on Poverty eradication, Access to Social Well being and Justice to all & Gender equality.
Besides awareness, practical implementation of Social Justice Scheme for uplift of Poor & Deserving was also taken care of.
Around 37 BPL beneficiaries were provided Wheel chairs, crutches, sticks & Hearing aid kits under Social Justice Scheme.
Besides equipment, 15 cases for help to Senior Citizens, widows & disable persons were also taken in consideration and around 22 Pensions cases were approved and certificates were disbursed among the beneficiaries.
With the aim to implement Social Justice Scheme to labour, on ground, one case of Labour death was also resolved and a compensation of Rs 2 Lakh was presented to the legal heir.
Meanwhile, to facilitate speedy disposal of cases by way of amicable resolution, which is another aspect of social justice, DLSA Udhampur also held a Lok Adalat.
Around 68 cases were taken up and 44 were disposed of. Besides this, Tehsil legal Services committee Ramnagar, Majalta and Chenani also observed the World Day of Social Justice in their court complexes.
