EARLY TIMES REPORT

UDHAMPUR, Feb 24: The Udhampur town has witnessed a series of scooty lifting cases over the last few days since as many as five scooties were stolen in the last 14 days. Police sources informed that a common thing in these thefts which came to fore is that in all the cases the parked scooties were lifted while they had keys hung with them and the rider was busy in doing shopping nearby.
They suspect a common lifter might be behind all these incidents.
When contacted SHO Udhampur, Inspector Chanchal Singh said that they were following the leads and soon the culprit will be caught and put behind the bars.
He advised the public to remain alert and lock the scooty while parking it. Sources informed that a scooty lifted yesterday from Bus Stand Udhampur in evening has been recovered from Brradian (Battal Ballian) as petrol in it got exhausted.
Police sources informed that the lifter left the two-wheeler after its oil finished.
Meanwhile, police have intensified checking in the town and a hawk’s eye is being kept on suspects.
