4/1/2021 12:14:36 AM
Early times Report

Srinagar, Mar 31: An elderly tourist from Maharashtra died of COVID-19 in a hospital in the summer capital, Srinagar.
Official sources said that a 70-year-old patient, a resident of Pune in Maharashtra, was admitted to SHMS hospital on Tuesday after he complained of breathlessness and other symptoms associated with COVID-19.
They said the patient, who was suffering from acute Pneumonia, reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. “Following this, the patient was referred to Chest Disease hospital, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of COVID-19 patients in the valley,” they said.
However, they said the patient died at Chest Disease hospital in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
Surprisingly, the patient and his son had tested negative at Srinagar International Airport on their arrival in Kashmir valley few days ago.
The son of the elderly man has also been admitted to Chest Disease hospital. Maharashtra continues to have a worrying trend of a steep rise in COVID-19 cases and is one of the worst hit states in the country.
Meanwhile, amid a spike in COVID cases, Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday classified Srinagar as an orange zone while all other districts have been declared as green zones, whereas Lakhanpur was declared as a containment zone and Jawahar Tunnel area on either side as Red zones. As many as 359 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus, including 93 from Jammu division and 266 from Kashmir division, were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 130587.
