Poonch police launch crackdown against vehicles with non-JK registration | Warns legal action for not re-registering within 40 days | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
POONCH, Mar 31: The Poonch police have launched a crackdown against vehicles with non-JK registration and directed the owners to complete the process for re-registration within a specified time period. As per information, the Government had issued an order to take action against such vehicles with non-JK registration. There is a huge surge of vehicles purchased from other states and they have not been registered with the local transport authority. “There are hundreds of private vehicles with Punjab and Haryana registration numbers plying on the road in Poonch district, without paying road token tax in connivance with the enforcement agencies,” sources said. In this connection, SSP Poonch has issued the directions to all SHOs for taking action against the violators and informing them to complete the process to change registration. It has come to know that SHO Poonch had called for many such owners of vehicles having registration of other states in the police station and warned them of illegal action if the directions were not complied with and their vehicles will be seized. Although the previous ARTO Poonch, Jugal Sharma had taken action against such vehicles during his tenure but the menace could not stopped completely. The civil society members informed that it has been found that the vehicles with non-JK registrations have been found involved in crimes.
