SRINAGAR, May 6: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported record 4,926 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 2, 01,511. The union territory reported 52 deaths following which the total number of casualties reached 2,562.
Srinagar district reported 1070 fresh cases followed by Jammu district 617 cases, Budgam district 605 cases, Baramulla district 353 cases, Anantnag district 314 cases, Rajouri district 232 cases, Kulgam district 218 cases, Kathua district 200 cases, Pulwama district 171 cases, Shopian district 170 cases, Samba district 131 cases, Ganderbal district 126 cases, Poonch and Kupwara districts 124 cases each, Udhampur district 121 cases, Ramban district 108 cases, Bandipora district 90 cases, Reasi district 65 cases, Doda district 51 cases and Kishtwar district 36 cases.
Jammu district reported 21 COVID-19 deaths followed by Srinagar district 10 deaths, Rajouri, Kathua and Anantnag districts three deaths each, Udhampur, Samba, Poonch, Baramulla and Pulwama districts two deaths each and Kishtwar & Budgam districts one death each. So far 1,494 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division the number of such deaths is 1,068.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 4,926 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,685 from Jammu division and 3,241 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 01,511. Also 52 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 34 from Jammu division and 18 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 2,836 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,041 from Jammu division and 1,795 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 01,511 positive cases, 41,666 are active positive, 1, 57,283 have recovered and 2,562 have died; 1068 in Jammu division and 1,494 in Kashmir division.
Out of 75, 07,938 test results available, 73, 06,427 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 18, 67,856 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 91,693 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 41,666 in isolation and 1, 19,000 in home surveillance. Besides, 16, 12,935 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 50,290 positive cases, 10,666 active positive, 39,034 recovered, 590 deaths; Baramulla has 14,984 positive cases, 3,422 active positive, 11,353 recovered, 209 deaths; Budgam has 12,583 positive cases, 2,644 active positive, 9,803 recovered, 136 deaths; Anantnag has 8,638 positive cases, 2,512 active positive, 6,011 recovered, 115 deaths; Pulwama has 8,401 positive cases, 2,028 active positive, 6,262 recovered, 111 deaths.
“Kupwara has 7,743 positive cases, 1,293 active positive, 6,346 recovered, 104 deaths; Bandipora has 5,980 positive cases, 709 active positive, 5,206 recovered, 65 deaths; Ganderbal has 5,920 positive cases, 750 active positive, 5,118 recovered, 52 deaths; Kulgam has 5,550 positive cases, 2,193 active positive, 3,287 recovered, 70 deaths and Shopian has 3,557 positive cases, 763 active positive, 2,752 recovered, 42 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 38,006 positive cases, 7,048 active positive, 30,369 recovered, 589 deaths; Udhampur has 6,890 positive cases, 1,065 active positive, 5,754 recovered, 71 deaths; Rajouri has 5,858 positive cases, 1,791 active positive, 3,986 recovered, 81 deaths; Kathua has 5,376 positive cases, 999 active positive, 4,307 recovered, 70 deaths; Samba has 4,407 positive cases, 1,473 active positive, 2,867 recovered, 67 deaths.
“Doda has 4,043 positive cases, 409 active positive, 3,564 recovered, 70 deaths; Reasi has 3,786 positive cases, 566 active positive, 3,200 recovered, 20 deaths; Poonch has 3,383 positive cases, 686 active positive, 2,651 recovered, 46 deaths; Kishtwar has 3,093 positive cases, 157 active positive, 2,912 recovered, 24 deaths and Ramban has 3,023 positive cases, 492 active positive, 2,501 recovered, 46 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 01,511 positive cases, 20,126 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
