“Covid-19, The major trouble faced by a middle-class individual”,
9/10/2021 11:14:36 PM

SHAFQAT SHEIKH

Since March 2020, the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic across the whole of India has taken up the lives of thousands of persons in various government and private hospitals in India. The first lockdown was imposed in March 2020 for 21 days and extended up to lockdown 05 and then unlock down phases started at the time, there was a very low percentage of covid cases in India and various sectors were open in phase manner.
There was later imposition of night curfew under Disaster Management Act for a long time throughout India and also across whole Jammu and Kashmir and various security personnel were deployed and assigned the task to avoid the movement thereby restrictions were forcefully imposed in some regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the historic District Development Council Elections were held in Oct-Nov 2021 all districts with maximum constituencies of 14 in a district. At that time various elections rallies, meetings, and gatherings were conducted and elections were held during the lower percentage of covid cases and no such increase was seen till Feb 2021.
The institutions were thrown open in Mar 2021 across the whole Jammu and Kashmir as well as throughout India and an announcement for West Bengal Assembly Elections was made by the Chief Election Commissioner of India as well as the Election Commissioner West Bengal. It was a time when Kumbh Mela was also organized for three days and a huge crowd gathered there, which resulted in the sudden break of the second wave of coronavirus.
The sudden break out of the second wave was taken too much lightly by the Government of India till the outbreak of Covid-19 cases increased in huge numbers as well as death was also noticed as compared to the first wave. The lockdown was again imposed till it was too late and the imposition of corona curfew was started from night curfew and later complete imposition on movement was restricted for months together but the shortage of oxygens in hospitals had resulted in thousands of deaths across Jammu and Kashmir as well as in India.
The major cities across India were completely put under lockdown to break the chain of covid but unfortunately it was again too late a decision of the Government as the chain was converted into a web. All such decisions taken by the government were made in the larger interest of the society and the vaccination process was started from the Covid Warriors as well as above 45 age group individuals across India.
For the vaccination process, the government obtains various methods to complete the target and create mass awareness among the general public. The vaccination process was declared free of cost by the Government of India as well as States and Union Territories.
After taking all such precautionary measures, the unlock down of corona curfew was lifted in phase manners, and the weekend lockdown was continued for a long time but after taking review meetings by the administrations weekend lockdown was also lifted and night curfew is continuing thereby gathering is limited by the administration.
It is a matter of great surprise that all the markets, clubs, tourist spots, parks are thrown open without any limitation on the gathering but guidelines were laid down to take Covid Appropriate Behaviors (CAB) to avoid the spread of covid 19. It’s time now that the government and experts are claiming and predicting the third wave of coronavirus. In such a meantime guidelines are also made to open the institutions including the capacity of 50% with a follow up of covid Appropriate Behaviours.
The night curfew is also continuing thereby the government is announcing the opening of all institutions and the opening of all such institutions is limited as office time across Jammu and Kashmir where the maximum gathering is made during day hours and there is not so much need for night curfew. Almost across all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir, still, there are restrictions on various activities including the religious festivals and offering of Namaz Jummah and moving of yatras to holy caves/shrines.
All the restrictions laid down are taken to avoid the spike in covid cases thereby all other activities are thrown open during day time. Its Jammu and Kashmir, except the municipality limit of Jammu and Srinagar areas, all activities are performed during day time and the imposition of night corona curfew decision in Jammu and Kashmir is only paperwork done just for fun and had become a cruel joke of the administration.
Besides this, another cruel joke is also done when the passengers traveling from various regions to Jammu as well as Srinagar and across the inter-district routes through passenger vehicles including buses, mini-buses, and taxis are stopped at various locations and nakas and asked to have their covid test there among which such activity is done with only male passengers whereas numbers of female passengers accompanied with these passengers are traveling together in same vehicles.
The testing practice is continuing still here across the Chenab region where the inter-district passengers traveling in such vehicles are facing hardship and troubles as much as the middle-class individual is facing since the breakdown of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It’s now time to see the review of the Government toward their seriousness about the middle class, that when all the activities are thrown open during the day time in Jammu and Kashmir, then what is the aim and reason behind harassing passengers at various locations and asking for testing of Covid 19.
Will the Jammu and Kashmir administration modify its guidelines to avoid the predicted coming of the 3rd wave of Covid-19, it is yet to be mentioned?.
