The installation of the deity was performed by the Pujaries of the temple as per the rituals thus marking the beginning of 10-day long Ganesh Festival.
A Head Priest of Raghunath ji Temple speaking on the occasion informed that the Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, marks the birth of Lord Ganesh as it begins on the fourth day of the month of Bhadrapada, the sixth month of the Hindu calendar. “It concludes after 10 days on the day of Anant Chaturdashi, when the idol is immersed in the nearest water body in the city. Lord Ganesh is considered an embodiment of wisdom and widely revered as the remover of obstacles,” he added.
Similarly, an idol of Ganpati ji was also installed at Shri Ranbireshwarji Temple by the temple Priests.

He said that Dharmarth Trust is looking after the shrines and temples in a selfless manner and the state of art edifice has been raised for the comfort of devotees.
“May Ganpati ji help us all to overcome COVID-19 pandemic and bless us with a happy and healthy life,” he said, adding that celebration of such festivals bring people together and cement the bonds of brotherhood and communal harmony. He hoped that this auspicious occasion will usher Jammu and Kashmir in peace.
