Don't drag cheap politics into religious affairs: ex-MLC Jugal Kishore
9/12/2021 11:41:14 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 12: "By the way Spiritual Growth Centre at the holy town of Katra being managed and controlled by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is meant for propogating our old age tradition and heritage of spirituality and not for holding political functions by any means," said ex-MLC and former Minister Jugal Kishore.
In a press statement issued today, former Minister and senior Congress leader Jugal Kishore Sharma while castigating BJP and its frontal organizations said don't try to drag politics into religious matters and personal faiths.
"I had raised objections in this regard in the past and again opposing it today when a political function organized by Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha was allowed to be held at Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra. Holding political programmes there has denegrated the sanctity of this pious institution which was established only for the spread of spirituality. Look at yourself. Dont'I try to itermingle personal faith, religious issues."
And, sprinkling pious water of revered river Ganga into Banganga indicates the political bankruptcy of those particularly Shri Ajay Nanda, former MLA Reasi, who by their action has shown utter disregard to the voters who reside near Banganga and Charan Paduka which come under the jurisdiction of Purana Daroor Panchayat, he added.
"Whenever any election is held, polling booths are set up there so that voters can cast their votes. Moreover, every political party erect their banners, posters and flags near these polling booths. If that can happen on election day why not it can be done on any other occasion," he said while reffering to the criticism of Congress flags being shown during former All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi's recent Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji yatra.
"Let me remind you all that the sacred shrine of Maa Vaishno Devi ji also has a polling booth where 200-250 people cast their votes.
