Symposium on "Status of Women in Gandhian Philosophy” held

UDHAMPUR, Oct -1:- Radhika Sharma of Semester 2nd of Government College for Women Udhampur was declared as best speaker in an Intercollegiate symposium contest on the topic, “Status of Women in Gandhian Philosophy”.
The Contest was organized by the Department of Music in collaboration with NSS unit Government College for Women (GCW)Udhampur through Online mode here today. Vice Principal of the host college, Prof. Kewel Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Khushi Sharma from Semester 3rd and Anjali Sharma from Semester 1st were adjudged second and third respectively, while Muskan and Shreya Sharma from Semester 4th clinched consolation prizes.
As many as 29 students participated in the programme and deliberated upon the various facets of Gandhian Philosophy.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kewel said Gandhian philosophy of love and non-violence is more relevant in the present scenario. He called upon the students in particular to follow the foot-steps of Gandhi Ji to become an asset to the Nation. He lauded the efforts of NSS unit and Department of Music for holding the symposium on Status of women in Gandhian philosophy in the institution which would certainly inspire the students to follow the preaching of great leader in their daily life.
Earlier, Head of Department Music, Dr. Seema Sharma gave brief resume of the departmental activities in the institution. She apprised that the department has been holding a series of activities on regular intervals to provide a platform to the budding students to channelize their talent in the right direction.
Dr. Kewal Kumar, Department of Botany GCW Udhampur, Prof. Swarna Department of Political Science GDC Ramnagar and Dr. Kamal Deep Kour Department of English GDC Nelli Nallha acted as judges while Neesha from Semester 5th NSS Volunteer conducted the proceedings of the programme.
HOD Music, Dr. Seema Sharma, Assistant Prof. of Zoology(NSS Officer) Sumita Rao, Assistant Prof. of Philosophy Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Prof. of Zoology Tania Mahjan, Assistant Prof. of Geography Pooja Bharti, Assistant Prof. of Music Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Prof Music of Yash Kumar, senior faculty members and large number students were also present on the occasion.
