Botanical garden vandalized turned into parking in Poonch
This was no botanical garden, I have all records, says Principal GDC

Poonch, Oct 1: Administration of Government Degree College Poonch has allegedly destroyed a 49-year old botanical garden located at Nakhuwali road here.
“The Principal Illegally used JCB to destroy the garden and turned the land into vehicle parking space.”
The information of destroying the botanical garden went viral on social media evoking sharp reactions from the Poonch residents. They reached the spot and captured videos of the destruction. The video of a JCB destroying the plants has also gone viral.
When contacted, Principal GDC Poonch Sayed Musaraf Hussain Shah said, "This was no botanical garden. There was a building where the administration had decided to make parking. Now the work has been stopped. I have all the records of 2017-18. Rest all these allegations are baseless.”
After the matter snowballed into a major controversy the Principal issued an order no. GDCP/21/835 dated 29/09/2021 stopping the salary of two associate professors for “maligning” the image of the college.
