NYK hosts awareness Program on Catch the Rain, Covid-19 , Self Employment Schemes

RAJOURI, Nov 24: Nehru Yuva Kendra Rajouri today organised a Mega Awareness Programme on combating Covid-19 Mass Awakening and Action Campaign, besides Catch the Rain and Self Employment Schemes here at Government Degree College Nowshera.
Dr. Surinder Kumar (Principal GDC Nowshera) acted as the Chief Guest, while Nationally Acknowledged Youth Activist Vikrant Sharma was the Guest of Honour.
Resource persons were Ashok Kumar(Assistant Executive Engineer, PHE Nowshera), Dr. Kalpana Arya(Medical Dept.), Mushtaq Ahmed (Functional Manager, DIC Rajouri), Rafakat Hussain (District Employment and Counselling Centre).
A lecture was delivered on the topic Water Conservation and Jal Jeevan Mission by Ashok Kumar. He enlightened the gathering about the ways to conserve water as India is facing scarcity of drinking water.
He added that rain water harvesting is an effective way to save water. He further said that judicious use of water should be the way of life. He gave an experimental demonstration on testing pH, total hardness of water so as to ascertain the purity of water. He also provided Water Testing kits to the college.
Vikrant Sharma, State Level Resource Person, NYK Rajouri stated that Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan is the largest grassroots level organisation of the Government for the youth.
He further said that India is the largest Country in the world in terms of youth population and tapping their energy is one of the prime objectives of NYKS. He said that NYKS has been involving rural youth in various flagship schemes of the Govt.
Dr Kalpana Arya (Medical Department) made the gathering aware about the Covid Pandemic and stated that different symptoms appear in a Covid Patient. She further presented a demonstration regarding Ideal Hand Washing technique and appealed to the audience to take suggestive and preventive measures regarding the pandemic.
She added that 100% vaccination of Ist dose and 95 % that of 2nd dose has been achieved among 18+ age group as of now. She requested everyone to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible and cooperate with the health department in achieving 100% results.
Mushtaq Ahmed, Functional Manager DIC Rajouri highlighted the Self Employment Schemes, including Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
He said that under PMEGP, a loan up to Rs 25 Lakh can be availed in manufacturing sector and upto Rs 10 under services sector.
He further said that a subsidy of 25% is granted for candidates belonging to general category and 35% subsidy is provided to the candidates belonging to other sections.
Dr Surinder Kumar, Principal GDC Nowshera gave an overview of the event and hoped that more such types of programs will be organised from time to time.
Sangeeta Sharma, also spoke about the theme Catch the rain, where it falls and recited a poem on the same.
Presenting vote of thanks, Nitin Hangloo congratulated all the members associated in organising this event.
He added that such a programme is the need of the hour and youth is the focusing group.
He further stated that today’s youth should not become job seekers and instead avail the self employment schemes of the government and become Job providers.
Later, IEC material on Catch the rain was also distributed among the participants.
The event was co-ordinated successfully by NYV Arti Choudhary, Atul Verma (Block Nowshera), Sonia Sharma, Sangeeta Sharma (Block Lamberi), Shokal Ali and Pervaiz Iqbal from Qila Darhal.
