NYKS hosts awareness program on Catch the Rain, Covid-19 , Self Employment Schemes

RAJOURI, Nov 27: Nehru Yuva Kendra Rajouri, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, organised a Mega Awareness Programme on Catch the Rain (Jal Shakti Abhiyaan-2), Combating Covid-19 Mass Awakening and Action Campaign and Self Employment Schemes here at Dak Bungalow, Manjakote.
Pawan Kumar Parihar (Assistant District Development Commissioner) graced the event as the Chief Guest.
The Resource persons for the event were Vikrant Sharma (Social Activist, National Youth Awardee, State Level Resource Person NYKS), Saddam Zia (Incharge Implementation Support Agency), Dr Javed Shah (Health and Medical Education Department), Tariq Aziz (Functional Manager, District Industries Center), Mohd Aslam Baig (District Employment and Counselling Center), Bhushan Sharma (District Level Subject Matter Specialist Dept. of Agriculture), Lukman Ahmed (Extension Officer Fisheries Dept.), Jyoti Prasad (DLSMS, Dept. of Horticulture).
At the outset, Nitin Hangloo District Youth Officer Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Rajouri welcomed the Chief Guest and the Resource Persons of different Departments, who were present there to enlighten the youth about various Schemes of the Govt. He said that the program is based on the theme Catch the Rain (Jal Shakti Abhiyaan-2) and the awareness component of Self Employment and Public Welfare have been integrated to achieve convergence. He also thanked the youth present for attending the program in large numbers and urged them to take maximum benefit of the awareness lectures.
The Chief Guest appreciated the organisers for hosting the significant awareness event at such a huge scale. He said that programs like these are key for the success of the Public Welfare Schemes. He elaborated on the 24 agenda-works that every department is focusing on. He advised the youth to carefully listen to all the resource persons to benefit from Public Welfare Schemes of the Govt. He also deliberated on the “Apki Zameen Apki Nigraani” scheme of the govt. He also urged the youth to apply for Golden Cards. He also urged the youth to become Entrepreneurs and act as Role Models for society.
The lecture on the Topic Water Conservation and Jal Jeevan Mission was delivered by Saddam Zia. He enlightened the gathering about the strategy to conserve water as India is facing a scarcity of drinking water. He added that rainwater harvesting is an effective way to save water. He further said that judicious use of water should be the way of life.
Vikrant Sharma, State Level Resource Person, NYK Rajouri stated that Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan is the largest grassroots organisation of the Govt for the youth. He further said that India is the largest country in the world in terms of youth population and tapping the energy of the youth is one of the prime objectives of NYKS. He said that NYKS has been involving rural youth in various flagship schemes of the Govt. He further stated that by availing the benefits of the self-employment schemes the youth can become Job Providers instead of Job Seekers.
Dr Javed Shah (Medical Department) made the gathering aware about the Covid Pandemic and stated that different symptoms appear in a Covid Patient. He added that 100% vaccination of Ist dose has been achieved and 100% administering the 2nd dose of 18+ age group is in the final stage. He requested everyone to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible and cooperate with the health department in achieving 100% results. He further urged everyone to get enrolled under Ayushmaan Bharat.
Tariq Aziz, Functional Manager DIC Rajouri, delivered a lecture on Self Employment Schemes. He said that the youth can avail loans up to Rs 25 Lakh in the Manufacturing Sector and up to Rs 10 Lakh Services Sector to set up their own ventures. He further said that a subsidy of 25% is granted for candidates belonging to the general category and a 35% to the candidates belonging to other sections.
Mohammad Aslam Baig, Employment Officer, DECC Rajouri enunciated on Self Employment Schemes that can benefit the youth in entrepreneurship. He advised the public to get the benefits of various types of loans provided by the department to start their own business. He further stated about various schemes of Mission Youth such as Mumkin, Tejaswini.
Bhushan Sharma (District Level Subject Matter Specialist Dept. of Agriculture), Lukman Ahmed (Extension Officer Fisheries Dept.), Jyoti Prasad (DLSMS, Dept. of Horticulture) also delivered lectures on the Public Welfare schemes of their respective Departments and urged the youth to get benefitted from them. The event also witnessed project demonstrations by various School Students on the concept of Rooftop Rain Water Harvesting.
