JAMMU, Sept 16: BJP Jammu District celebrated the declaration of Holiday on the Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji on 23rd September in party HQ, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu under the leadership of Vinay Gupta BJP District President Jammu in the esteem presence of senior BJP leaders namely Vibodh Gupta General Secretary J&K, Yudhvir Sethi BJP Vice President J&K, former Minister Priya Sethi, Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma, Thakur Narayan Singh Jamwal, BJP Secretary J&K Rekha Mahajan, Mahila Morcha J&K President Sanjita Dogra and Councillors garlanded on the emblem of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji with great enthusiasm and zeal.
Vibodh Gupta said the long pending demand of the people to declare a holiday on the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir today fulfilled. He congratulate the people of Jammu and Kashmir that their aspirations and feelings have been addressed by hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, Union Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and LG Manoj Sinha Ji. They gave approval to the demand," Gupta said. He said a notification in this regard will be issued before September 23. It is a tribute to the Maharaja who did accession of J-K with India and was a great reformer and a visionary king. Vibodh added.
Vinay said the government has decided to declare Maharaja Hari Singhji's birthday as a public holiday. He said Maharaja Hari Singh was a great educationist, progressive thinker, social reformer, and a towering man of ideas and ideals. The public holiday will be a fitting tribute to Maharaja Hari Singhji's rich legacy. The public holiday will be a fitting tribute to his legacy. He said the long pending demand of Jammu people raised by Dogras for the past 72 years has been addressed.
Vinay stated that Maharaja Hari Singh was a Dogra ruler, who had signed the Instrument of Accession on October 26 1947, the legal document that ceded J&K to the dominion of India as per the Indian Independence Act 1947. We feel proud and realise how great a visionary Hari Singh was. We, being Dogras, feel proud in glorifying the great visionary ruler," he said.
All BJP Senior leaders said that Hari Singh made an immense contribution to India's freedom movement. His distinguishable and unmatchable services in the field of education, agriculture, administrative, social and economic reforms will always be remembered.
