IGNOU penetrates its reach to rural areas
9/21/2022 10:52:17 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 21: "Regional Centre Jammu of the Indira Gandhi National Open University since its inception has set several milestones over the years in terms of sustainable growth of enrollment and providing quality support services to the students. Setting yet another milestone, around 77 percent students from the rural areas have enrolled themselves under IGNOU Jammu for various programmes in 2021-2022 which clearly represents the reach and popularity of IGNOU in far flung and remote areas of the region", said Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director In Charge.
Dr. Sandeep Gupta stated that IGNOU, over the years, has lived up to the country's expectations of providing quality education to the marginalized sections of society which includes free of cost education being provided to all jail inmates across the country and enrolling a large number of SC/ST students for a number of programmes of the University for which the programme fee is exempted. He also stated that the University has digitized the study material for different programmes and IGNOU also provides a discount of 15% on the programme fee to the students who opt for digital material rather than the hard copy. The digitized material is available at eGyankosh, the digital repository of the University. The digitized study material can be accessed directly following the link https://www.egyankosh.ac.in/ on IGNOU website, Regional Director informed.
Regional Director informed that only one day is left for the aspiring students, who wish to take admission in any of the IGNOU programmes online for the ongoing July 2022 admission session since the admission closes on 22nd September, 2022. To enroll in the next year or semester, students who did not appear in the previous examinations or did not submit their assignment can still apply for re-registration for the ongoing July 2022 session in order to save the backlog period. The re-registration closes on 25th September, 2022, said the Regional Director.
